What We’ve Been Up To: Phase 1 Archaeological Survey on the Lake Update
At CHRIS, we’ve been busy combining our passion for heritage preservation with modern development needs for our clients. Recently, our team completed a comprehensive Phase 1 archaeological survey—conducted under state direction—to better understand the historical context of the site and support our client’s vision for future development. In this update, we’re excited to share what we’ve been up to—from fieldwork and artifact discovery to submitting an updated Area of Potential Effect (APE) and preparing our final report.
Meeting Our Client’s Vision
Our client’s priority was to ensure that any new development is informed by a thorough understanding of the site’s historical context. To meet this need, our team embarked on a comprehensive Phase 1 survey. This initial effort focused on identifying key archaeological features and establishing an updated Area of Potential Effect (APE) that accurately reflects the historic footprint of the property.
Fieldwork and Findings
During the survey, our experienced archaeologists spent multiple days on-site, carefully documenting and analyzing the area. The work included:
Systematic Field Investigation: We implemented rigorous methods to map and record significant features, ensuring that every detail was documented.
Artifact Identification: Key artifacts and features were identified, laying the groundwork for understanding the historical landscape and its potential impact on future development.
Data Collection: Our team gathered crucial data, which not only contributes to a richer historical narrative but also supports the planning and design of the upcoming phases of the project.
Looking Ahead: Final Report in the Works
With the Phase 1 survey complete and the APE revision submitted, our team is now in the process of finalizing a detailed report. This final report will:
Synthesize Field Data: Provide an in-depth analysis of the findings, highlighting the archaeological significance of the site.
Outline Recommendations: Offer clear recommendations for preserving the site’s heritage while accommodating the upcoming development.
Support Future Phases: Serve as a critical document for guiding subsequent phases of the project, ensuring that future work is informed by our initial research.
Our Commitment to Excellence
At CHRIS, we believe that thoughtful archaeological work can bridge the past and the future. Our Phase 1 survey is a testament to our commitment to meticulous research and collaboration—ensuring that heritage preservation is a key component of modern development. We are proud to support our client’s vision while working in full compliance with state requirements.
Stay tuned for further updates as we finalize our report and move into the next phases of this exciting project. For more details or inquiries about our work, please feel free to contact us.
